Expelled Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav on Thursday said that he was ousted from the
party to prevent him from becoming former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's 'rajnaitik vaaris' or political heir.
"In spite of being righteous and despite my championing the cause of Dalits, I am being expelled from the party so that I do not become the
political heir to Lalu Yadav," Pappu Yadav told ANI.
"On one hand you want to end communalism and on the other you want to expel me for saying the right things," he added.
Pappu Yadav also said that despite repeated attempts, he has been unable to explain the situation to Lalu Yadav.
"I tried many times to talk to Lalu Yadav over the phone and explain the situation," he said.
Earlier in the day, the RJD expelled Pappu Yadav for six years after he backed former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi. A few days ago, he was also issued a show cause notice for the same.
