RJD, JD-U, Congress formally announce alliance for Assembly by-polls in Bihar

The three major political parties in Bihar - Janata Dal United (JD-U), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress have formally sealed an alliance to contest the upcoming Assembly by-elections in the state.

Announcing the formal alliance between the three parties for the August 21 by-polls, chief of the Bihar unit of the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) party, Vashisht Narayan Singh said, "The three parties (JDU-RJD-Congress) will fight by-polls together, and will campaign together too. We have finalised seat sharing."

The JD-U leader also attacked the BJP for the price rise, following its post election victory in the Lok Sabha, and said that its true face was getting unraveled in the nation, shortly after coming to power at the centre.

Announcing the number of seats that each party would be contesting in the August 21 by-polls, he said, "The JD(U) and Lalu Prasad Yadav-led RJD will contest on four seats each while Congress will fight on 2 seats."

The likelihood of an alliance between the two parties had gained currency ever since the RJD supported the Jitan Ram Manjhi government on the floor of House on May 20.
