Roberto Orci to make directorial debut with 'Star Trek' sequel

Roberto Orci will be making his directorial debut with the next Star Trek movie, it has been revealed.

According to Deadline.com, the 40-year-old film writer, who recently parted with his longtime work partner Alex Kurtzman, will be replacing JJ Abrams to helm the third part of the series.

Orci had been credited as a writer and producer in the 'Star Trek' films as well as the 'Transformers' and 'Amazing Spider-Man' movies.
