Rodman sings 'Happy Birthday' to Kim Jong-un in front of 14,000 people

Controversial National Basketball Association (NBA) legend Dennis Rodman has reportedly sung 'Happy Birthday' to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in front of a large crowd of in the capital Pyongyang.

The former Chicago Bulls player, who is on his fourth North Korean visit to mark Kim's birthday with a basketball match, has angrily defended his visit after criticism from rights groups, with the US said he does not represent the country.

According to the BBC, Rodman said that Kim, who was in the audience with his wife and other senior officials, is his 'best friend', and sang 'Happy Birthday' with the crowd of about 14,000 at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium clapping and waving their hands.

Rodman, who remains the highest-profile American to have met the Kim, is with a team of former NBA players who played an exhibition match, which Rodman claimed, to celebrate Kim's birthday, although the leader's official birthday and age have not been confirmed, the report added.
