Nico Rosberg has claimed that he is massively motivated for the 're-match' with his Mercedes teammate and defending champion Lewis Hamilton this Formula One season.

Rosberg dominated the first day's testing of the new Formula One season in Jerez and then threw down the gauntlet to teammate Hamilton, labelling 2015 as the 're-match'.

Rosberg insisted that he would not lose the world championship to the Brit two seasons on the trot, and said that the misery of such an epic defeat in 2014 was enough to ensure it did not happen again, the Mirror reported.

The German said that he knows the feeling of winning and of fighting for a Championship after last year, but added that he also knows the feeling of not winning in the end and he doesn't want to repeat that. He said that it's an extra boost and it gives him so much motivation for the year ahead.

Rosberg was faster a majority of the time in qualifying as he won a legion of new fans, but on race day it was different, as Hamilton won 11 times and the German just five.

Rosberg claimed that it's been a great winter, although it has actually seemed very long to him, adding that the lucky thing about this sport as a driver is that one gets a lot of down time between each season to rest, recharge, spend time with the family and really hit the training hard.

But, he insisted that now he is eager to get back to work and go maximum attack for another season.

Rosberg claimed that he is so proud to be in this moment with the team, coming off the back of a fantastic year, putting the Silver Arrows right back at the front where they belong.

Rosberg said that it would be massively tough to repeat what Mercedes achieved in 2014 but they all want to keep that momentum going and to dominate the sport for many years to come.

Rosberg insisted that nothing is for certain but, whatever happens, he knows it would be another great battle with Hamilton, adding that this year is the rematch for him and he is massively motivated for it.
