New Delhi, Mar.28 (ANI): To ensure that the unemployed rural population of India also particpates and receives the benefits of the 'Startup India' campaign, the government is seriously considering promotion of a variety of rural development options.

These options will be launched under the Deendayal Upadhyay Swaniyojan Yojana.

To ensure implementation, the government will be meeting with emerging entrepreneurs in the startup sector to take their advice for a successful launch.

Under the Deendayal Upadhyay Swaniyojan Yojana, an action plan and incentives is being conceived to provide the rural poor with self-employment options.

The rural development ministry plan will be backed by MUDRA Bank loans, innovative credit linkages and self-help groups etc.

The programme, funded by the National Rural Livelihood Mission, will have skill sets such as driving, plumbing, agriculture and horticulture, etc.

The rural development ministry is in talks with other government departments, including textiles, animal husbandry and food processing to help the rural poor set up viable businesses.

As per the Socio Economic and Caste Census (SECC) data, one third of India's rural households are landless and depend on manual labour for an income, highlighting the need for skill development in these areas.

The rural unemployed need not leave their land in search of wage employment if they have entrepreneurial opportunities," said official sources speaking on condition of anonymity.
