Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded the people for dedicating their Diwali this year to India's armed forces through the 'Sandesh 2 Soldiers' campaign initiated by his government, and appealed to the people to remember the latter on every auspicious occasion as this would increase their morale by 1.25 billion times.
"This year I went to the India-China border to celebrate Diwali with the ITBP soldiers, I always go, but this time it was different. It was a unique experience, since this time, 1.25 billion people wished the soldiers on Diwali. They were overwhelmed with emotion. It was clearly reflected on their faces," Prime Minister Modi said while delivering his Mann Ki Baat to the nation.
The Prime Minister said it was unique to see people wishing the soldiers and added that this has helped in creating an emotional connection with the armed forces.
Prime Minister Modi said that a soldier wrote a letter to him expressing his happiness as he received numerous messages from people.
"A soldier wrote to me saying they have always celebrated Holi, Diwali at the borders and never had the opportunity to celebrate with their family. But this time he got to celebrate with his fellow countrymen," he said.
The Prime Minister appealed to the people and asked them to remember soldiers on each and every occasion.
"Our soldiers must be remembered for each and every auspicious occasion When the nation stands with soldiers, their morale increases by 1.25 billion times," he said.
