Sanjay Saraf hits at national daily's controversial article over Kashmiri separatist leader's claims

Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Sanjay Saraf hit back at the national daily 'The Hindu' controversial article mentioning his meeting with Kashmiri separatist leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani on behalf of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi.

Saraf on Sunday threatened to lodge a complaint against the newspaper 'The Hindu' for publishing such an article without any evidential proofs.

Saraf said he would complain to the Press Council of India on this matter to take stern action against the English daily.

"I have met Geelani one half month before, when he was on bed. So, I have not talked to him. He was not in a position to talk. So there is no need to write all these nonsense things. I am going to write to the chief editor of The Hindu as well as I am going to write Press Council of India, and we will give some to The Hindu to take action against Praveen Swamy otherwise I will lodge an FIR against Swamy", said Saraf.

However, LJP's youth wing chief Sanjay Saraf accepted that he had met Geelani few months back on some occasion, which was supposed to a casual meet and had nothing to do with Modi as such.

"The news item which has come in The Hindu is completely false. I don't know from Mr. Praveen Swami got the report and source. I am meeting Geelani since last twelve years. I have a very personal family relation with him but that doesn't mean I'm meeting Geelani on behalf of Modi. If I have to meet anybody in the country I will meet him on the behalf of my leader Ram Vilas Paswan because myself being National Youth President of LJP. So I don't need to meet anybody on anybody's behalf. I am not a BJP man where he has quoted that he has met him," he added.

Meanwhile, reacting on the issue, Chief of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Ram Vilas Paswan denied the claims of national daily saying that no such meeting had even taken place.

"Mr Sanjay Saraf is National Youth President of our party. I have also been meeting Mr Geelani since long. Whether it is Yasin Malik or Geelani we met them long back and even the BJP leaders have met them for all party meetings. Kashmir issue is a very sensitive issue we all meet to discuss and to have a common consensus. Whenever we go we meet, so what is bad in that," said Paswan.
