The Calcutta High Court on Thursday directed that the West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra, who got a bail in Saradha Chit Fund scam by a Alipur court on October 31, be kept under house arrest till November 17.
Responding to the CBI's petition for cancelling bail of Mitra, the vacation bench of the court said he should be kept under house arrest till a regular bench of the Calcutta High Court hears the case.
The court questioned that how the lower court granted the bail to him when the High Court refused it in August. However, the court said that Mr. Mitra can move out of his house only if he needs hospitalisation. CBI arrested him in connection with the scam in December last year.
