India's Kailash Satyarthi and Pakistan's Malala Yousafzai will be formally conferred with the Nobel Peace Prize at an award ceremony here on Wednesday.

Addressing a joint press conference with Malala on the eve of the ceremony, Satyarthi said that the Nobel Peace Prize gives child rights activists tremendous opportunity in their fight and struggle, urging people to fight for the children who have been denied their rights and freedom.

In his speech, Satyarthi also described Malala as his daughter and said that she is the bravest child he can think of.

The two Nobel laureates also emphasised on peace between India and Pakistan, stating that peace between the children of the two countries could thaw the enmity between its leaders.

Since 1901, the Nobel Prizes have been presented to the laureates at ceremonies on December 10, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death. Apart from the medallion, laureates also receive a cash prize of USD 1.1 million, an amount which will be split between this year's winners Satyarthi and Malala.
