The Supreme Court on Friday stayed all proceedings against yoga guru Baba Ramdev for his controversial "honeymoon" remarks on Rahul Gandhi over his visits to Dalit homes.

An apex court bench headed by Chief Justice R.M.Lodha also issued notices to police in all states which have registered cases against Baba Ramdev.

"It is clarified that we are not making any opinion on the merits of the case," the bench said.

The court's order came on a petition filed by Baba Ramdev seeking directions restraining any coercive action him and for clubbing all FIRs lodged in different parts of the country for his controversial "honeymoon" remark.

Baba Ramdev had made the controversial comment during a press conference in Lucknow on April 25. It sparked off an outrage from several parties and organisations, who termed the statement as "anti-Dalit".
