Due to the ongoing protests by the Madhesis in Terai region, the schools have reopened after a long break of three months.

Considering the upcoming 12th class examinations, District Education official Rambinay Singh permitted the schools to remain open for a month.

All the government and private schools in the rural areas of Birgunj also remain open.

Earlier on Friday, three major parties, the Nepali Congress, the CPN-UML and the Unified CPN-Maoist drafted a three-point proposal to be tabled during the major parties' talks with the agitating Madhesi parties, the Himalayan Times reported.

As the United Democratic Madhesi Front refused to sit for talks called by Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli citing the government's use of excessive force against the agitators in Sarlahi, scheduled talks between the major parties and the UDMF did not materialize.
