Security forces have seized 20 kilograms of contraband from cross-border smugglers trying to enter Indian territory along the international border in Punjab.
Addressing mediapersons, Border Security Force (Punjab) Inspector General Ajay Singh Tomar said: "The smugglers easily escaped because of the fog and darkness, but when we searched the area in the morning, we found a pipe on the fence of Pakistan side and 20 packets of heroin in the pipe with each packet weighing around a klilogram. We have recovered 20 kilograms of heroin."
With the latest seizure, the BSF has seized 82kg of heroin in the first 35 days of this year. The total heroin seized in 2013 in the Punjab sector was 322 kilograms.
