Sensex rises to record high after assembly election results

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark Sensex surged 487.21 points to 21,483.74 while jumped 155 points to 6,415 points in opening trade on Monday.

Rupee hit almost four-month high by rising 51 paise to 60.90 against dollar.

The 30-share index, which had gained 287.82 points in the previous two sessions, zoomed to hit an all-time high of 21,483.74 by surging 487.21 points, or 2.32 percent.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the leading player in the election results to the four state assemblies on Sunday.
