American tennis ace Serena Williams has continued with her dominance of the WTA rankings despite being sidelined with an injury to her left knee.
Williams was forced to abandon her defence of the China Open earlier this month due to the injury, with second-ranking Maria Sharapova going on to win the tournament. But the American is still nearly 2,000 points clear of the Russian on the top spot of the world rankings, Sport24 reported.
Injury has also blighted Canada's Eugenie Bouchard, as she had to pull out of her second round tie in Linz last week, which led her to drop down one spot in the rankings from sixth to seventh with Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland moving ahead of her.
The top 10 in the WTA world rankings are:
1. Serena Williams
2. Maria Sharapova
3. Simona Halep
4. Petra Kvitova
5. Li Na
6. Agnieszka Radwanska
7. Eugenie Bouchard
8. Ana Ivanovic
9. Caroline Wozniacki
10.
