A cloudburst in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi District has resulted in several people going missing.

According to ANI, several villages have been cut-off after roads and bridges were washed away.

Rescue teams have reportedly reached the area, and so far, six people have been rescued.

"As soon as we reached the site, we saw a few people stuck because of the cloudburst. We had to travel around three hours to reach the village. After that, we helped people to cross the river. They are safe, but the place still is under the threat of another cloudburst," said Ram Singh, a member of the rescue team.

The cloudburst has damaged five bridges and many farms.

It is being reported that around 15 families are stuck in Kamar Village in Uttarkashi and around 50 people are stuck with over 200 animals in other villages of the district.

Meanwhile, four people went missing after a cloudburst over Nahan town washed away several houses on Thursday.

Uttarakhand was hit by its heaviest rainfall on record in June 2013, causing lakes and rivers to burst their banks, inundating towns and villages below.

The official death toll was 900 with more than 5,700 people declared missing, making it the deadliest ever in the mountainous region. Floods or landslides also washed away or damaged 5,000 roads, 200 bridges and innumerable buildings.

The disaster, dubbed a "Himalayan tsunami" by officials and media, prompted one of the largest airlifts in the history of the Indian air force, as helicopters flew hundreds of sorties to rescue residents and pilgrims and drop thousands of kilograms of relief material.
