The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday dubbed 10th World Hindi Conference as a 'success' and said that the ministry has made several proposals to promote Hindi across the world.
"External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said the influence of English on Hindi is affecting the language. We have suggested 12 proposals which will help to promote Hindi. Use of Hindi in Foreign policy, in governance, in science, in communication, in courts, and in other areas will be discussed in near future. We also proposed to make arrangement for Hindi to be taught in foreign nations," MEA official spokesperson Vikas Swaroop told media here.
"The External Affairs Minister said that she would like to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving importance to Hindi in international forums. She said that this conference will go a long way in giving impetus to Hindi across the world," he added.
Swaroop further said that a total of 5440 representatives from 39 countries had come to participate in the 10th World Hindi Conference.
The three-day World Hindi Conference was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.
This year's conference will focus on exploring the possibilities of expanding the influence of Hindi across the world.
