Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Tuesday condemned the Maoist attack on security forces in Chhattisgarh. At least twenty security personnel were killed in the incident.

"I condemn this attack on the CRPF and the police of Chhattisgarh. This has happened for the second time in the same area. We have taken this very seriously," said Shinde.

"We will fight against this Maoist movement. The DG and CRPF were on tour. We have asked them to reach the spot immediately. As of now, I cannot comment about anyone's failure," he added.

Earlier today, at least 20 security personnel were killed and more than 10 injured when Maoists attacked a team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) near Tongpal in Sukma District.

Police said the CRPF team, belonging to the 80th battalion, was part of a road opening party which had left Tongpal early morning when Maoists triggered an IED and opened indiscriminate fire on them.
