A shoe was hurled at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday while he was addressing a rally in Haryana's Rohtak district.

During the party's 'Tijori Tod Bhanda Fod' rally against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's demonetisation move, Vikas Kumar of Dadri district from the media section threw a shoe at him. However, the shoe missed its mark and the Chief Minister escaped unhurt.

Kumar was later caught by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters, who beat him up.

The police later took Kumar into custody.

This is not the first time that Kejriwal has had to witness such an attack.

On April 2016, a 28-year-old man identified as Ved Prakash, a member of Aam Aadmi Sena, a faction that broke out of AAP, had thrown a shoe at Kejriwal as he was addressing a press conference.

In January 2016, a woman threw ink at Kejriwal during a public event that was organised to celebrate the Delhi Government's success with the Odd-Even vehicle traffic rationing initiative.
