The Congress Party on Thursday lauded Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, and said the ongoing rife within the BJP's Delhi unit for claims to the coveted post reflects its greed for power.

Congress spokesperson Meem Afzal, who was commenting on BJP Delhi unit president Vijay Goel's move to stake his claim to be the state's next chief minister, said it reflects the short-sightedness of the opposition.

"This is the difference between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party. From our side, Sheila Dikshit says that the Congress will come next time. She has never said anything with regard to who will be the chief minister. Others are coming and declaring themselves as chief minister candidates like Vijay Goel or others," he said.

Emphasizing that the BJP's nominee for the Delhi Chief Minister's post should be the one who has been more 'active' in campaigning for the political outfit, Goel yesterday indirectly staked a claim to the coveted post and indicated that he was worthy for the top job.

Goel's comment came amid speculation that senior party leader and former Delhi Health Minister Harsh Vardhan could be selected as the BJP's chief ministerial candidate during the upcoming assembly elections.

The Model Code of Conduct has come into force in five states, including Delhi, going for the assembly polls.

Voters in all the five states of Delhi, Rajasthan, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh will for the first time have the choice of 'None of the above option' to reject the candidates contesting the election in a constituency.

The election in Delhi will be held on December 4. Counting of votes in all the five states will take place on December 8.
