Indian tennis players had a bad Day 5 at Flushing Meadows in the US Open tennis tournament as Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi both bowed out in the mixed doubles.
Sania Mirza went down to Liezel Huber and Marcelo Melo along with Romanian partner Horia Tecau 6-4, 6-7, 4-10, while Mahesh Bhupathi and partner Martina Hingis lost to Taiwan's Chan Yung-jan and Sweden's Robert Lindstedt 6-7, 6-7.
Somdev Devvarman too, lost his singles encounter to Italy's Andreas Seppi 6-7, 4-6, 5-7.
However, there was some good news in the form of Rohan Bopanna winning with partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin against USA's Bradley Klahn and Sam Querrey.
