Spieth rues lack of discipline after epic Augusta Masters meltdown

World number two golfer Jordan Spieth cited a 'lack of discipline' as the reason behind his remarkable capitulation in the 80th Augusta Masters on Monday.

Danny Willett etched his name into record books as he claimed his first major after defeating defending champion Spieth, who held a five-stroke lead before making bogeys at 10 and 11 and a quadruple bogey at the par-three 12th to hand over the title to the British golfer.

A dejected Spieth, who finished second at two-under par with another Englishman Lee Westwood, said that the loss would hurt him while pointing out that he failed to focus on his line on 12 and played recklessly despite making two bogeys before, the Daily Express reported.

The American admitted that it was a tough 30 minutes for him which he hopes to never experience again.

Spieth presented Willett with the green jacket that he looked to make his own for most of the week, leading after all three prior rounds.
