The two-day meeting of the committee on Goods and Services Tax (GST) consisting of the Finance Ministers of all the states is set to commence in here on Tuesday in the presence of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
According to reports West Bengal's Finance Minister Amit Mitra will preside over the meeting.
Mitra, is also the chairperson of the Special Empowered Committee on GST consisting of Finance ministers of the states.
As per the reports, the meeting will focus on efforts to reach at a consensus GST Bill among the states.
It may be recalled that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, had earlier extended her support to ensure the passage of the GST bill.
Making her stand clear, she said, "I am politically opposed to the BJP government. But it doesn't mean I would block the passage for the pro- people bill.
