Comedian Stephen Fry has revealed that he had tried to commit suicide in 2012.
During an interview for Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast, the actor admitted that he took a huge number of pills and quite a lot of vodka, the BBC reported.
The star said that his producer, who he was filming with at the time, came into the hotel room and found him in a sort of unconscious state so he had to be taken back to England to be looked after.
He told Herring, in front of a live audience at the theatre, that it was the first time he had said in public that he is not always happy.
Fry, who has bipolar disorder, said that he was the victim of his own moods and his condition requires him to take medication so that he doesn't get either too hyper or too depressed to the point of suicide.
He also confessed that the incident took place in a hotel room, adding the mixture of drugs and alcohol made his body convulse so much that he broke four ribs.
