A French court has reportedly cleared former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn of pimping charges, marking the closure of a four-year-long trial.

Strauss-Kahn, who was charged with 'aggravated pimping', was acquitted of procuring prostitutes for sex parties in France, Belgium and the United States. The judge ruled that the former IMF boss behaved as a client and had not paid the sex workers he met, reported the BBC.

However, he had always denied knowledge that some of the women who participated in the orgies attended by him were prostitutes.
