Former Indian spinner Sunil Joshi has been appointed as the Oman's spin-bowling coach ahead of the middle-eastern country's maiden World Twenty20 campaign in India next year.

Oman will kickstart their preparations for the pinnacle event with a 10-day camp in Rajkot, which starts from December 20. They are placed alongside Bangladesh, Ireland and Netherlands in the World T20 qualifying round, ESPNcricinfo reported.

Joshi will work with head coach Duleep Mendis as the winner of the group will secure a spot in the Super 10 stage.
