External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday visited the Singapore high commission to offer condolences on the passing away of Lee Kuan Yew.
Lee, Singapore's founding father and first Prime Minister, died on Monday aged 91.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee also condoled the passing away of Lee.
Former Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, also remembered Lee as a great friend of India.
"He was a great friend of India, particularly since the launching of liberalisation experiment in our country in 1991," Singh said.
The Singapore government has declared a period of national mourning until his funeral on Sunday, which will also be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Several world leaders are expected to travel to the city-state for Lee's funeral at the National University of Singapore.
Lee, a British-educated lawyer, is credited with building Singapore into one of the world's wealthiest nations on a per capita basis.
