Sushma Swaraj calls on Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday called on Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi to discuss progress in bilateral relations between the two nations.
"Beginning at the top. EAM @SushmaSwaraj calls on President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi of Egypt to discuss bilatrl relations," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Vikas Swaroop tweeted.
Swaraj arrived in Cairo yesterday for her two nation tour of Egypt and Germany.
She was received at the airport by India's Ambassador to Egypt Sanjay Bhattacharyya.
India and Egypt have enjoyed a history of close contact from ancient times. Since the 1980s, there have been four Prime Ministerial visits from India to Egypt: Rajiv Gandhi (1985); P. V. Narasimha Rao (1995); I. K. Gujral (1997); and Dr. Manmohan Singh (2009).
