Syria's Air Defense has claimed to shot down the missiles targeting the Shayrat air base on early Tuesday.
The missiles targeting Dumayr base near Damascus were also intercepted, as reported by the Sputnik news agency.
As per the reports, nine missiles had targeted the Shayrat though their source is not clear yet.
Three missiles targeting the Dumayr airport in northeast Damascus were also intercepted by the Syrian defense forces.
No official announcement has been made yet regarding who was behind these attacks.
Earlier on April 14, the United States along with the United Kingdom and France dropped 100 cruise and air-to-surface missiles at military and civilian targets in Syria in retaliation to April 7 chemical attacks on Syria which led to the death of more than 40 people.
The United States has blamed Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad for the Syrian chemical attacks.
