"On 12.07.2018 at about 0120 hrs, on profiling basis, CISF surveillance and intelligence team selected a foreign passenger for random checking of his luggage at Terminal-2, near Gate No.04, CSI Airport, Mumbai. During screening of his baggage through X-BIS machine, Sub-Inspector Sandeep of CISF noticed some suspicious item inside the bag. He asked the passenger to open the bag for physical checking. The passenger told that he had forgotten the password of his bag lock and he did not have any key to open it," the CISF Public Relations Officer Hemendra Singh said.

It added that the matter was reported to senior officers of CISF who during the questioning of the foreigner found not giving satisfactory reply. The bag was opened with the help of experts in presence of passenger. On physical checking of the bag, four (04) packets of whitish colour powder (seems to be narcotics substance) weighing about 16.2 kg were recovered," Singh said.

The passenger was identified as Julias Francis Chihongaki. He was supposed to fly to Johannesburg via Dubai by an Emirates Airways flight.

"The matter was informed to NCB officials of CSI Airport, Mumbai. After examining the recovered powder, NCB officials declared it as Amphetamines (a narcotics substance). Mr Julias Francis Chihongaki along-with the recovered narcotics substance was handed over to NCB officials for further legal action," the CISF official added.
