As tensions rose between Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress in the wake of the Lok Sabha elections, supporters of the two political quarters clashed in Khaggal village of Kurnool district on Sunday.
During the clash, P Thikka Reddy, TDP's candidate from Mantralayam Assembly seat sustained injuries. Not only that, a cop who tried to prevent the clash was also injured in the incident.
To control the mob, the police present at the spot fired gunshots in the air, following which Reddy's gunman also fired into the air.
Reddy sustained injuries on his leg and was immediately taken to Kurnool government hospital.
Lok Sabha and assembly elections will be held simultaneously in Andhra Pradesh on April 11. The results will be announced on May 23.
