A 14-year-old girl from a Carribean nation has hogged all the limelight on social media by offering people her unique perspective on how to make the most out of modest means.

Paola Mejia, who lives in Honduras and is known by her nickname La Chiki, or "the little one," has over 100,000 followers on Facebook, where she offers suggestions on how to eat without spending much, how to stretch your clothing budget by shopping at second-hand stores and how to avoid a costly trip to the salon by using a clothing iron to straighten the hair. Her catchphrase is "Be humble," reported ABC News.

On being asked how she felt about the fame, Mejia said that it was nice when people recognized her in the streets and said "hi" but added that she was not fond of the word "fame" and preferred the word "popular" instead. She said that the best part about being "popular" was that "you have the opportunity to transmit to thousands of people a positive message."

She is in the equivalent of ninth grade in the U.S. and has been interviewed by both local and international media. She is also being approached by local businesses, such as a cell phone company and pizza restaurant, for endorsements, thanks to her growing popularity. However, that has prompted her fans to urge to not "sell out.
