Telecom giant Huwaei has slammed the allegations made by former CIA chief about spying for the Chinese government.

According to the BBC, Huawei said that Ex-CIAchief, Michael Hayden's allegations were 'unsubstantiated' and 'defamatory'.

Hayden had alleged that Huawei supplied intelligence to China and US agencies have hard evidences about it.

According to the report, US politicians claimed that the company posed a security threat because of its alleged links to China's government and military, while the UK government has said that it would review Huawei's involvement in a cybersecurity centre.

Huawei has faced increased scrutiny in recent times which have been driven in part, by the fact that the company's founder, Ren Zhengfei, was a former member of the People's Liberation Army.

However, Huawei has repeatedly denied those claims and has stressed that it is 98.6 percent owned by its employees.

Head of international media affairs for Huawei, Scott Sykes said that the allegations are 'sad distractions from real-world concerns related to espionage, industrial and otherwise, which demand serious discussion globally', the report added.
