French tennis player Julien Benneteau has said that he once again tried everything in the final against Joao Sousa in Kula Lumpur, where he lost despite having a match point in the second set, losing his first 9 finals, the most in the Open era.
According to CNN, while Sousa celebrated becoming the first Portuguese man to claim an ATP title, Benneteau wasn't nearly as joyous.
No man has lost his first 10 finals in the Open era, said the ATP.
Sousa couldn't stop smiling during the trophy presentation but spared a thought for Benneteau.
He said that he felt bad for him knowing about the Frenchman's previous finals.
