A terrorist has been gunned down by the security forces during an encounter in Babgund area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district in the wee hours of Saturday.

The security forces also recovered arms and ammunition from his possession. The identity of the terrorist is yet to be ascertained.

This comes at a time when voting for the third phase of the urban local body elections is underway in the state.

Earlier on October 5, terrorists had killed two National Conference (NC) workers while threatening the people of the state against participating in the local elections.
