Terrorists have killed one police official and injured two other persons after they opened fire outside a court room in Peshawar on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the judicial complex in Peshawar, the capital of province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is not confirmed if the two injured victims were also policemen.
The injured were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital where their condition is said to be stable.
Meanwhile, all the entry and exit points of the Session's Court were sealed as security was beefed up outside courts across the city and additional police force was also called in at the scene of the crime.
Last week six policemen were killed in two separate terrorist incidents in Peshawar and Quetta.
In Peshawar, two policemen were killed and six others, including a Deputy Commandant of the Frontier Reserve Police (FRP) Malik Tariq, were injured in a suicide attack in Hayatabad Town.Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Operations, Dr Mian Muhammad Saeed, said the suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden motorcycle into the vehicle of the FRP deputy commandant on Thursday morning when he was on his way to office.
Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak had said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police were combating terrorists with the highest degree of courage and bravery. He said that though the police were fully alert and the provincial government had provided all the required resources for their security, sometimes the resources also failed to combat the vast network of terrorists.
