Thailand's coup leader Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha has been endorsed as the country's 29th prime minister by King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Gen. Prayuth received the royal command to hold the prime ministerial office at the army's headquarters in Bangkok.
Dressed in a ceremonial white uniform with gold-colored braid, Gen. Prayuth was accompanied by his wife, key bureaucrats and junta members, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The junta leader was sworn-in as the country's prime minister four days after members of the military-appointed legislature elected the general as the new premiere following a vote.
After his appointment as Thailand's prime minister, the general said that he intended to set up a cabinet to take on all administrative responsibilities as soon as possible.
A junta spokesperson said that the list of the new cabinet members will be submitted for royal endorsement in September, the report added.
