The Philippines has entered the Oscar race by officially choosing 'Signal Rock' for the 'foreign language film' category.
Directed by Chito Rono, the film features Christian Bables and Elora Espano in the lead role, reports Variety.
Shot over a period of two weeks, the plot of the film focuses on how the population of Biri Island in the 1990s had to climb a high rock in search of mobile phone signals.
The Regal film production will also feature at the Busan International Film Festival in Korea, next month. It is scheduled for a theatrical release in The Philippines in August.
The 91st Academy Awards will be held on February 24, 2019.
