Theatre Veteran Janak Toprani forays into Bollywood with 'Call for Fun'

Veteran theatre director Janak Toprani, one of the well known names of English Theatre backed by investment banking and financial wizard Hardik Patel, will be taking the big plunge into Bollywood with the former's maiden Hindi feature film titled 'Call For Fun' featuring new talent supported by Bharat Dabholkar and Parmeet Sethi.

Produced by Filmquest, a company that aims to establish itself in the field of entertainment with multiple projects in the pipeline, Call For Fun has a runtime of about 2 hours and is an edgy, coming of age laughathon revolving around the escapades of a young boy who takes over the reins of his father's business and faces a vortex of misadventures - mafia threats to client losses.

The film will release nationally in September with music being helmed by well known composer Lalit Pandit.

Janak Toprani who has given hit theatre productions in all genres, from comedies and thrillers to musicals and dramas, stated, " I was always fascinated by the 70mm screen. Call For Fun is a an intelligent, edgy, slice of life comedy that also has a social message and is targeted at today's commitment phobic , smart genY that is addicted to FB and Whatsapp.Our film depicts the clash of generations. I would say it has a universal subject and every age group will relate to the content. "

Speaking about his future plans, he stated, "There's no business like show business! We plan to produce a slate of films, of varied genres, rich in content and backed by strong talent. We see films and entertainment as business and plan to establish the company into a major player in the entertainment field. We have already worked on a few scripts and more projects will start rolling soon."

Janak Toprani - a chartered accountant, company secretary, and lawyer turned director-producer with a diploma in film making from Leeds University, UK; has successfully directed over 30 critically acclaimed plays, some of which were selected for the Prithvi Theatre Festival and the Indian National Theatre Festival.

With commercially successful productions like Vasavadatta, Rashomon, Papa Don't Preach; Fights, Camera, Action! and Divorce Me Darling, Janak has directed the likes of Naseeruddin Shah, Sanjana Kapoor, Bikram Saluja, Prem Chopra, Ranjeet, Rati Agnihotri and Farah Khan apart from giving breaks to innumerable new talent.

Hardik Patel's areas of expertise include investment banking, equity brokerage and wealth advisory services.

Hardik has worked in the US offices of leading investment banks and asset advisory firms such as Merrill Lynch, PCE Investment Bankers and Fidelity Investments.

Hardik specializes in developing bespoke client solutions that include creating prudent asset allocation techniques and building model portfolios. Upon returning to India in 2005, Hardik launched Finquest.

At Finquest, Hardik is actively involved in establishing and maintaining relationships with various institutional investors (domestic and international), corporates, high net-worth individuals, and family offices. Hardik Patel is an MBA from the Crummer Graduate School of Business in Florida (USA).
