The stage is set for 'The Mummy' reboot as Tom Cruise has officially come on board and a release date has now been set to June 9, 2017.
Reportedly, the film has now settled on a date, having previously been pitched for release on March 24, 2017, reports Independent.
It's a move that may be connected to the recent re-arrangement of release dates prompted by 'Star Wars: Episode VIII's move to a Christmas release date.
Indeed, 'The Mummy' will be the first of a slated series of rebooted monster flicks. Alongside 'Dracula,' 'The Wolfman,' 'Frankenstein,' 'The Invisible Man,' 'The Bride of Frankenstein' (for which Angelina Jolie has been rumoured), and 'Van Helsing'; an 'Avengers'-styled team-up movie has also been planned, for which Cruise will likely be contracted to appear in.
