The 'Saturday Night Live' or SNL version of the recently concluded American presidential debate saw Tom Hanks pull off the perfect role of host as Chris Wallace.

The 60-year-old star, hosting the late-night live television sketch comedy show for the ninth time, joined the fray as moderator Chris Wallace, reports E! Online.

To make sure that Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump and Kate McKinnon's Hillary Clinton touched on all highlights from this past week's debate, Hanks started off saying, "Tonight is going to be a lot like the third Lord of the Rings movie."

"You don't really want to watch, but hey, you've come this far."

Interestingly, the trio took on all of the actual debates hot-button moments including one where Trump calls Clinton a 'nasty woman', a comment which one can now get emblazoned on a white limited-edition mug.

When McKinnon started to recount Clinton's last 30 years of public service, Baldwin fired back as she mentioned "taking out Bin Laden."

"Chris, she can brag about her resume," Baldwin's Trump interrupted, "but I'm the one who's got all the heavy hitters supporting me. I mean, I have got the cream of the crop."

Baldwin also poked fun at Trump's celebrity supporters, which include his brother Stephen Baldwin.

"I've got Sarah Palin. I've got Chachi. Get this, I've even got the best Baldwin brother," he joked.

'SNL's comedy sketches parody contemporary culture and politics and are performed by a large and varying cast of repertory and newer cast members. Each episode features performances by a musical guest and is hosted by a celebrity guest who usually delivers an opening monologue and performs in sketches with the cast.
