The analysis of the TransAsia Airlines turbo-prop plane's black box data has revealed that both its engines failed.

Taiwan's Aviation Safety Council noted that the aircraft's engine's failed to produce enough thrust two minutes after the plane took off, reported the BBC.

The black box data also showed that the flight crew attempted to restart one of the failed engines but to no avail.

The domestic flight ATR-72, carrying 53 passengers and five crew members, had just taken off from Taipei Songshan Airport and was headed to the outlying Kinmen islands, just off the coast of south-east China, when it hit a bridge and crashed into a river near the capital Taipei.
