The grand mufti of Egypt has said that the recent execution of a Jordanian pilot of the Islamic State (IS) is "far from humanity" and that "Islam is innocent of this act".
According to CNN, Sheikh Shawki Ibrahim Abdel-Karim Allam said that what happened to the pilot was by all means a crime.
The Grand Mufti also said that it is an ideological battle which is not confined to Egypt or the Middle East.
Allam stressed that radicalization has become a global phenomenon and it has no home or belief but it is prevalent throughout the world.
