In an effort to bring an end to renewed fighting in eastern Ukraine, French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held urgent meeting in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev while US Secretary of State John Kerry who is also in Kiev said that the U.S. wanted a diplomatic solution.
According to BBC, Kerry also said that the U.S. will not completely ignore Russian aggression being practised in eastern Ukraine.
Nearly 5,400 people have been killed since April due to fighting between Urkainian forces nad pro-Russian separatists, said the United Nations.
The West and Ukraine continue to blame Russia for the violence saying it is providing weapons to the rebels and sending troops across the border.
Russia denies all accusations but agrees that some Russian volunteers are fighting alongside the rebels.
