After the Communist Party of India (Marxist) indicated that it was not averse to a pre-poll alliance with the Congress Party for the West Bengal assembly elections to be held next year, Trinamool Congress leader Derek O'Brien on Monday said his party already has a strong alliance, and that alliance is with the people of Bengal.
"I could not discuss "ifs and buts", but his party would be fighting its political opponents such as the BJP, the CPM and the Congress," he said on the possibility of CPM alliance with any party.
"In the last five years, Mamata Banerjee's Government has done some great work across the state, and we are humbly confident that we will do very-very well, because we have firmed the alliance with the people of Bengal," he added.
