U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has said that his meeting with intelligence officials on the intelligence community's report on Russian related hacking was 'constructive'.
"I had a constructive meeting and conversation with the leaders of the Intelligence Community this afternoon. I have tremendous respect for the work and service done by the men and women of this community to our great nation, Trump said in a statement after meeting.
He said there was absolutely no effect on the outcome of the election, including the fact that there was no tampering whatsoever with voting machines despite some countries trying to break through the cyber infrastructure of the country.
Trump said the hackers were unsuccessful in their attempt to hack the Republican National Committee as it had a strong hacking defence system.
The president-elect said that he would appoint a team to provide him a plan to aggressively combat and stop cyber attacks within 90 days of taking office.
Senior intelligence officials briefed Trump on Russian hacking during the election campaign in the meeting which lasted around 90 minutes at Trump Tower.
CNN quoted a Trump spokeswoman as saying that the officials, who gave the briefing, were Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, CIA Director John Brennan and FBI Director James Comey.
A declassified version of the report released by the intelligence community said that that Russian President Vladimir Putin had sought to help Donald Trump win the presidential elections.
"We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump," the report said.
Russia has repeatedly denied any involvement in the hacking.
