Two persons were killed when the engine and two coaches of Up Rajendra Nagar-Guwahati Capital Express derailed at Samuktala Road near Assam-West Bengal border last night.
According to a statement issued by the North East Frontier Railway Public Relations Officer, six people were also injured in the accident that took place around 9.15 p.m.
The Accident Relief Train was at the site of the accident with railway doctors and relief materials when reports last came in.
Divisional Railway Manager of Alipurduar Division Sanjeev Kishor is supervising rescue and relief operations.
