Tyagi blames shameful governance of UPA-II as reason behind institution heads rooting for BJP

Janata Dal United (JD-U) leader K.C Tyagi on Saturday said it is quite unfortunate that the shameful governance of the UPA-II was the reason why heads of most institutions were hoping for a BJP Government at the Centre.

Commenting on Election Commissioner Harishankar Brahma's statement that there was a "communication gap" over the issue of granting permission for a rally in the Muslim-dominant and congested Bemiyanbagh area of Varanasi, Tyagi replied, "This is the most unfortunate thing of the UPA-II, that after independence, all the chiefs of any institutions like the CBI, RAW etc., all want a BJP Government to come. This has been because of the shameful manner in which the UPA-II has run this country,"

Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath on Saturday dismissed reports of their being differences between him and the two other Election Commissioners-Harishankar Brahma and Syed Nazim Ahmad Zaidi.

He said that the top leadership of the commission acts as a team and is discharging its constitutional responsibilities with firmness and required promptitude.

Samath's statement came a day after Brahma had admitted to their being a "communication gap" between Varanasi District Magistrate and returning officer Prajwal Yadav and the BJP over the issue of granting permission for a rally in the Muslim-dominant and congested Bemiyan area of Varanasi. He also regretted the delay in disposing of the matter.

This was in complete contrast to what Sampath had said earlier. He had stoutly defended the Varanasi administration for not granting permission to BJP's prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi to hold a rally in Varanasi.
