The United Nations (UN) Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, has urged India and Pakistan to resolve the recent misunderstanding between them following the August 6 Line-of-Control incident that killed five Indian soldiers.
He has expressed the hope that leaders of the two countries would try to resolve the outstanding issues by taking some confidence-building measures, the Dawn reports.
The statement from the UN chief comes amid tensions in the heavily militarised Kashmir valley with the nuclear-armed neighbours both pointing the finger at each other.
He further said that the UN military observers were working to avoid any possible clash between the armed forces of the two countries, the report added.
Ban, on his recent visit to Pakistan, said that the country should accelerate its efforts in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), including education, poverty eradication and gender equality.
According to the report, the UN has urged the drone operating countries to follow the international humanitarian law while using the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
Ban also condemned the terrorist attacks against civilians taking place in Pakistan.
