The Pakistan Army's Operation Zarb-e-Azb to remove foreign and local terrorists from North Waziristan has resulted in at least 75000 local residents fleeing from their homes in the region, according to the UNHCR.

The UNHCR has said that a majority of them have taken shelter in Afghanistan, a country that was earlier sending refugees to Pakistan.

Whereas many Internally Displaced People (IDPs) from North Waziristan area continue to enter Sindh and other provinces in Pakistan itself. As of July, 2, the number of registered IDP's stood at 37,757.

The total number of militants so far killed in Zarb-e-Azb operation is not been given out by the Pakistan Army, while it continues to destroy militant hideouts in Mirmshah Bazaar and Mirali in the ground offensive. The army has advanced towards outskirts of the agency after it destroyed three hideouts in Mirali.

Many Improvised Explosive Device (IED) factories with heavy explosions were discovered by the army in door-to-door search operations in Miramshah. So far, four such factories have been found and one IED factory has been destroyed during airstrikes.

In his statement, Major General Asim Bajwa, spokesperson for Inter-Service Public Relation (ISPR), said that six IEDs attached to 4 laptops ready to explode were recovered during the search operation.

Pakistan is also in talks with Afghanistan with regard to alleged militant sanctuaries of Tehrik-e-Taliban, Pakistan in the neighbouring country in Eastern Kunar and Nuristan provinces from where Pakistan army alleges that attacks are being launched on its forces.

Zarb-e-Azb operation has brought together the divided population of Pakistan which was against peace talks with Taliban. (ANI)
